SIP03 Matting Agent
Description
SIP03 is a matting agent solution.
Recommended Uses
Used for reducing gloss of all types of solvent-based finish coatings.
Features
Can be applied in almost all types of solvent-based coating systems.
Particularly suited for use in systems that are difficult to be matted.
Good matting efficiency.
Improve scratch resistance of coating surfaces.
Application Instruction
• Note : To obtain the maximum performance to which Matting Agent solution is provided the following instructions should be considered: Increasing the matting agent concentration will reduce the gloss value (as demonstrated in Figure 1) Increasing the film thickness will increase the gloss with the same concentration of SIP03. Matting efficiency depends on the method of application used. The more efficient matting is obtained by spray application. Roller application will lead to better matting than brush application. Drying conditions serves as an additional parameter on matting efficiency. Drying at room temperature (25°C) will lead to better matting than at higher temperatures (40°C or 120°C). Matting efficiency depends on type of coating system and on SIP03 concentration . The matting effect of a clearcoat is, in general, more efficient than matting of a pigmented finishing coat. Mixing ratio (by volume) :According to figure 2 to obtain a semi gloss aspect. Mixing :When mixing, avoid too long and too vigorous mixing otherwise an increase in the gloss occurs when coating. Notes: Two different colors, for example black & white, having the same surface reflectance (gloss value) the black sample will appear visually as being more glossy. The more shade is the coating, the more glossy will appear. In laboratory testing, the degree of gloss of a matted coating depends on the degree of the measuring angle chosen and on measuring equipment type.
