Undercoat
Description
High quality water emulsion acrylic paint.
Recommended Uses
As an under or finishing coat for interior and exterior use. Applied as an undercoat over leveled and prepared concrete surfaces by primer or putty, or directly over concrete surfaces to give a luxurious high quality economical finishing coat. Also Omega undercoat can be applied under or over oil-based paints after complete drying.
Features
• Excellent flow that prevents roller and brush marks.
• Excellent filling properties.
• Excellent resistance to water and saponification.
• No harmful vapors and scents are present (makes it easy to use and to apply in confined areas).
• Suitable to be topcoated by water-based, oil-based, and epoxy coatings.
• Economical, provides excellent hiding power and short drying times (reducing therefore the application times considerably).
• Improve the coverage rate and the properties of the finishing coat.
• Excellent adhesion properties.
• Highly resistant to the effects of ultra-violet light and weathering.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Brush, roller or airless spray.
• Mixing : Stir well before application in order to ensure that a uniform consistency is achieved.
• Thinner / Cleaner : Water is used for thinning or cleaning. Mixing ratio with water depends on temperature, method of application and substrate porosity. No dilution is required when airless spray is used at 20°C; other method of application (brush or roller) will need up to 15% approx. by volume water.
• Application Temperature : 10-40?C.
• Note : When recoating, a special attention should be given toward drying times.

Surface Preparation
Coating performance is, in general, proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Surface must be clean, undamaged and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
Omega undercoat is suitable to be applied directly on concrete surfaces or on primed surfaces that are filled or leveled by putty to reduce costs.
- Uncoated and clean substrates:
Prepare the surface in accordance with the application instructions for the suitable primer and / or filler being used. Be sure that all blow holes and defects are completely filled to produce a smooth, clean and level surface prior to applying Omega undercoat. When filling deep holes, it is recommended to apply Original STOP200 (refer to its technical leaflet).
- Previously coated substrates:
Omega undercoat can be applied to existing coatings. The surface of the existing coating has to be cleaned and abraded (especially when coating occurs over oil-based coatings). Be sure that it adheres well to the existing coating prior to application to ensure good adhesion properties.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 20 minutes (ASTM-D1640).
• Dry to Handle : 1 hour “minimum recoat time” (ASTM-D1640).
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperature will shorten the drying time.
Storing Conditions
• Omega undercoat must not be allowed to be stored in untreated metals that are likely to corrode. Containers must be kept tightly closed. Exposure to strong heat and frost must be avoided.
• Shelf life is two years from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 40°C. Containers should be kept tightly closed.
Safety:
Avoid skin or eye contact. Prolonged contact may cause irritation of the skin and mucous membranes
