CRYL 2K
Description
Two-component acrylic-urethane topcoat.
Recommended Uses
SRT Coat is used mainly for automotive refinishing.
Features
• Available in a wide range of colors.
• Very good hiding power.
• High gloss aspect.
• Excellent durability.
• Excellent scratch resistance.
• Excellent weathering resistance.
• Excellent adhesion properties.
• Short drying time can be obtained when curing occurs in spraying booths.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray.
• Mixing Ratio : (by volume) : Comp.A Comp.B Thinner (S601, S603, or S605) 2 1 0.75 Use appropriate thinner according to curing condition: S601 “known as SRT/Slow” used inside spraying booths (slow evaporation rate). S603 “known as SRT” used inside and outside spraying booths (medium evaporation rate recommended for hot weather curing). S605 “known as SRT/AD” used outside spraying booths (quick evaporation rate recommended for cold weather curing). • Stir well individual components before mixing.
• Pot life : (20°C) 4 hours (higher temperatures will shorten the potlife sharply).
• Cleaner : Clean applying tools by S501 or S502 thinner.
• Curing :
• Note : • The reaction between SRT Coat components can not be guaranteed unless a temperature of at least 10°C is maintained for the mixture and the substrate until complete curing. Temperature of substrate should be at least 3°C above the dew point to avoid moisture condensation during application. SRT Coat should not be exposed to water, chemicals, or mechanical stresses before it is fully cured.
Technical Information
• Component B : SRT Coat drier
• Color : The required color can be obtained from basic colors using Azmix program and according to the car factory code.
• Flexibility : Excellent
• Abrasian Resistance : Excellent
• Chemical Resistance : Very good
• Solvent Resistance : Very good
• Number of Coats : Several coats to obtain opacity “allow 5-10 minutes to flash between coats”.
• Packaging : Component A : 0.9 L in metal can. Component B : 0.45 L in metal can.
Substrate Treatment
• Suitable Substrates: SRT coating is recommended to be applied over SRT Primer/Surfacer (AC2). Be sure that Primer/Surfacer is sanded before coating and the surface is clean and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
• Surface Preparation (Repair Area):
1. Remove flecks of old paint with a scrapper, sandpaper, or SIP Paint Remover.
2. Remove dirt and water-soluble contaminants by washing with detergent and hot water solution. Rinse well and wipe surfaces thoroughly with a clean dry cloth.
3. Remove grease, oil and other contaminants with thinner (S100 or S501), then wipe surfaces thoroughly with a clean dry cloth.
4. Fill repair area with polyester putty (PE Putty).
Note: For Originally Equipment Manufacture (OEM) it is recommended to apply EPX02 “white” primer to bare substrate. Then if required, fill with a smooth layer of PE putty.
5. Shape and sand filler using 180-240 and 320-400 grit treated sandpaper respectively.
6. Remove sanding residue using air pressure then clean by solvent (S100 or S501).
7. Surface immediately with SRT Primer/Surfacer (AC2).
8. Sand SRT Primer/Surfacer (AC2) with 180-240 grit treated sandpaper. Then, finish sanding with 320-400 grit treated sandpaper. Be sure that complete drying is achieved prior to sanding.
9. Remove sanding residue using air pressure then clean by solvent (S100 or S501).
10. If needed, for best leveling, apply PE Putty (fine).
11. Apply several coat of SRT Coat until opacity immediately after surface preparation to prevent any contamination and allow 5-10 minutes to flash between coats.
12. Sanding: If required, remove spraying dust with 1000-2000 grit treated sandpaper. Be sure that complete drying is achieved prior to sanding.
13. Polishing: If required, polish with ultra fine polishing compound for improving gloss.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : Thinner S601 30 minutes S603 20 minutes S605 10 minutes
• Dry to Handle : Thinner S601 45 minutes inside spraying booths at 60°C S603 45 minutes inside spraying booths at 60°C S605 4 hours outside spraying booths in cold weather (higher than 10°C)
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
• SRT Coat is classified under highly flammable materials. Containers must be kept tightly closed in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight.
• Shelf life is two years from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 25°C.
Safety:
• Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
• Do not breathe or inhale mist.
• Wear air-mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
