RNC Coat
Description
One component Nitro-Acrylic coat.
Recommended Uses
Used mainly for coating automobiles and also can be used for furniture especially when higher performance is required.
Features
• Short drying time.
• Good hiding power.
• Good gloss aspect.
• Very good durability.
• Available in a wide range of colors.
• RNC Coat can be mixed with 10-30% RNC25 (wt%) then topcoated with Clearcoat SRT to obtain a high gloss and excellent abrasion resistant coat.
Application Instruction
• Method of Application : Conventional spray.
• Mixing Ratio :
• Pot life :
• Cleaner : Clean applying tools by S501 or S502 thinner.
• Thinner / Cleaner : S506 “known as sulfacryl”
• Note : Stir well before mixing with thinner.
Technical Information
• Component B :
• Color : The required color can be obtained by mixing from basic colors.
• Flexibility : Very good
• Recommended film thickness :
• Abrasian Resistance : Good
• Chemical Resistance : Good
• Solvent Resistance : Very Good
• Number of Coats : Several coats to obtain opacity. Allow each coat 5-10 minutes to flash until hand slick.
• Packaging : 0.9 L or 3.6 L in metal can.
Substrate Treatment
• Suitable Substrates: RNC Coat may directly be applied over AC surfacer or SRT Primer/Surfacer (AC2). Be sure that Primer/Surfacer is sanded before coating and the surface is clean and free of oil, grease, and other contaminants prior to coating.
• Surface Preparation:
Automotive (Repair Area):
1. Remove flecks of old paint with a scrapper, sandpaper, or SIP Paint Remover.
2. Remove dirt and water-soluble contaminants by washing with detergent and hot water solution. Rinse well and wipe surfaces thoroughly with a clean dry cloth.
3. Remove grease oil and other contaminants with thinner (S100 or S501), then wipe surfaces thoroughly with a clean dry cloth.
4. Fill repair area with polyester putty (PE Putty).
Note: For Originally Equipment Manufacture (OEM) it is recommended to apply EPX02 “White” primer to bare substrate. Then if required, fill with a smooth layer of PE Putty.
5. Shape and sand filler using 180-240 and 320-400 grit treated sandpaper respectively.
6. Remove sanding residue using air pressure then clean by thinner (S100 or S501).
7. Surface with AC surfacer or SRT Primer/Surfacer (AC2).
8. Sand Primer/Surfacer with 180-240 grit treated sandpaper. Then, finish sanding with 320-400 grit treated sandpaper. When sanding, a special attention should be taken toward dry to sand condition.
9. Remove sanding residue using air pressure then clean by solvent (S100 or S501).
10. If needed, for best leveling, apply PE Putty (fine) or AC Putty then surface again using AC Surfacer or SRT Primer/Surfacer (AC2).
11. Apply several coats of RNC Coat until opacity immediately after surface preparation to prevent any contamination and allow each coat 5-10 minutes to flash until hand slick.
12. Sanding: If required, remove spraying dust with 1000-2000 grit treated sandpaper. When sanding, a special attention should be taken toward dry to sand condition. Then if needed, apply a low pressure mist coat of RNC Coat to sanded areas.
13. Polishing: First, polish with fine or medium polishing compound for leveling. Then, polish with ultra fine polishing compound for obtaining gloss.
Wooden surfaces
Apply RNC Coat to primed wooden surfaces especially when higher performance is required.
Drying Time
• Dry to Touch : 5-10 minutes.
• Dry to Handle : 30 minutes.
• Dry to Sand : 24 hours.
• Note : Drying times can be affected by many factors such as temperature, ventilation and coat thickness. Higher temperatures will shorten the drying times.
Storing Conditions
• RNC Coat is classified under high flammable materials. Containers must be kept tightly closed in a cool and well-ventilated place, protected from heat and direct sunlight.
• Shelf life is two years from packing date in unopened original containers at 10 to 40°C.
Safety:
• Well-ventilated conditions should be provided during application.
• Do not breathe or inhale mist
• Wear air-mask and avoid skin or eye contact.
